North Island Masters
10000m Walk |
|
A 10000m track walk was
held sporadically at the Olympics until 1924. Track walking as a whole has only made sporadic
appearances at that level, with 3000m 3500m and 10000m
distances appearing up to 1924. After that
all walking events were held out of stadia, on road.
It
has been held at the North
Island Champs sporadically since 2003. When held, it is due to
the difficulty in establishing a course on which to hold a
10km Road Walk, though the more common replacement event is
a 5000m Track Walk. |
